The McKeesport Housing Authority is an instrumentality which was created under the United States Housing Act of 1937. The mission of the housing authoirty is to primarily assist low-income individuals to find quality housing options in the McKeesport area.

The authority owns and operates 1,021 federally assisted units consisting of:

Admission into these housing units is not limited to income. Applicants may choose between rental rates based on income or flat rental rates.

In addition, the authority administers a Section 8 voucher program, which assists over 400 families/individuals who live in privately owned rental homes throughout the city of McKeesport.

Applications to this program are currently being accepted; however, there is a funding limit on how many individuals may participate.

Federal participation in the Section 8 Program is limited to income guidelines.
